Unit 1 exercise
Unit 9 exercise
In unit 1, we learned the music pitch. The kids were supposed to listen 2 diff types of music & colour the animal accordingly. If the music is fast in the 1st song, they must colour the cheetah. if the music is slow, then they must colour the worm.
In unit 9, diff types of music (fast & slow) are played & the kids listen attentively & colour accordingly. fast - rabbit, slow - snail. Then they hv to tell the teacher who reaches the nursery first & which nursery.
After the lesson, we went to Mac for some snacks.
What we have learnt today:
Note Value
- Semi Breve: 4 counts ( using fruits to represent)
- Dotted Minim: 3 counts
- Minim: 2 counts
- Crotchet: 1 count
Treble Clef
Bass Clef
Minim
The notes in a music sheet always begin with C = Do, followed by D = Re, then E = Mi, F = Fa, G = Soh, A = La & B = Ti.
So Rachel learned to use her 5 fingers for these notes by showing Thumbkin as C, Pointer as D, Tallman as E, Ringman as F & lastly, Pinkie as G. (wriggling their fingers or pointing to it as they read each note aloud)
** Actually, i'm the one learning as well. A need to post this as to help me in remembering. Haha...
Pitch: The kids raise their hands up high if the music played is that of a high pitch & places them on the ground if the music they heard is that of a low pitch.
They also did an activity by arranging in order for semi breve, minim, dotted minim & crotchet respectively. Teacher Marcia did this exercise by doing flashcards & the kids gt to remember the sequence. Rachel's memory was superb!
Then the kids were given a pic & a marker & asked to circle the treble clefs & bass clefs they saw. ( i emphasized to Rachel that treble clef looked like a snake & a bass clef looked like our ears). Thus, she has no problem diffentiating.
1 hour of lesson passed by in a flash of time & its time to say bye bye. I must remember to go thru with Rachel what we have learnt & get her to listen to the CD too. Teacher Marcia will go thru what we hv learned next week again.
