Of Wounds & Burns

31 May 2012 (Mon):

Rachel suffered cuts from a fall & burns from a burning spotlight within 3 days of each other. On last Sat afternoon, she ran & fell while playing, thus grazing her knees. Blood oozed out immediately & she cried buckets. Poor girl.

Then on the following Tues, she was playing with some friends & sat down on a spotlight which was shown from the ground. Rachel did not realised the spotlight was burning hot & this caused her to leap up & screamed in pain. Another wound!

The burn wound she got behind her left thigh.

Her grazed wound on her left knee.

Progress Report

25 May 2012 (Fri):

Last day of semester 1 - the 1 month long school holiday begins.... Today, the kids got back their progress report & the results as follows:

a smiling face: exceeds expectation

a normal face: meeting expectations

an unhappy face: below expectations

Lionel has a smiling face for the English Language but with a few normal face for his Mother Tongue.

For Maths, he got all smiling faces too. The shaded part are those not graded yet as they would only be covered in Semester 2.

For his social skills, he scored smiling faces too & got As for Social Studies, Physical Education, Health Education, Art/Craft & Music.

Comments: Lionel readily participates in class discussions. He shows a positive attitude toward his studies. Well done Lionel!.

As i've mentioned in FB, Lionel is an all rounder A -star student, don't u agree?

PERI* Holistic Assessment - Term 2

24 May 2012 (Thurs):

This is the holistic assessment for Term 2. ( i do not know where the results for term 1 was; I have not seen it). I am one happy mummy who praised her son for doing so well in school. Keep up the good work, Lionel.

They got a round of practise first before the actual test.

Sound Dicrimination - tested on the ability to distinguish the appropriate sound for each alphabet/words

Listening Oral - matching the sentences to the correct picture.

Penmanship - the abilty to write in upper & lower cases, punctuation, copies the sentences entirely & accurately, write neatly & legibly, copy the words on the correct grid.

Show & Tell - Lionel drew ice cream sundae & elaborated further.

Marks were given for: 3 complete sentences about the show & tell item ( 3 stars), spoken loud & clear ( 3 stars), appropriate eye contact ( 2 stars).

Poetry Recitation - Lionel has to choose of the above, memorize & recite. Not just recite word for word but do it with tones, expressions & also with confidence.

And the results: Lionel scored full marks - 12 /12. Each child were allocated marks based on pronouciation ( articulation), voice projection (audibilty), eye contact & independence / confidence.

For this reading aloud session, he got 9/10 which showed he exceeded expectations.


And lastly, Lionel got all words spelled correctly for his term 2 overall spelling exam. 10/10.

Chinese HYPY Test 1 thru 4

23 May 2012 (Wed):

Chinese Han Yu Pin Ying since the beginning of P1 right up till now has since seen Lionel thru 4 tests. So far, he managed all of them quite well with the exception of some careless mistakes. I am never been a fan of HYPY. So if I did the same test as Lionel, i might comit the same careless mistake too.. Haha..

21 May 2012 (Mon):

Lionel got back his test paper & I'm happy to report he got full marks.

Lionel made 1 careless mistake here - he did not circle ten as instructed. But the teacher did not minus any marks. He got the full 3 marks for this section.

Full 8 marks.

Full 3 marks.

Full 6 marks. For this section, the teacher made a mistake in her marking. For question 15, she gave a cross when the working & answer was correct. I wrote a note to her about it. She recorrected all the students' paper for this part & amended the marks.

This is the amended copy of the test paper. Well Done Lionel!!

New English Spelling List

18 May 2012 (Fri):

Lionel got back his spelling list for term 3. He mentioned that the words are getting harder & longer. Haha... what he meant was he got more words to learn. As usual, the students are only require to learn those bold underlined words.

They all agreed that this was the best song of all.

The next morning, she felt sick.

Aunty Mary made yummy muffins for Grandpa and Grandma.

Father made a fuss over the baby when she cried.

Lazy Duck watched the animals as they worked.

Forty comes just after thirty-nine.
