This morning @ 8am, i was getting ready to get out of the hse for work when my hb's hp rang. Seeing an unfamiliar # on it, i ignored the call. Then my own hp rang. Same # appeared on mine. Sensing that it must be from someone both of us knew, i answered the call. Lo & behold, its my mil.
She asked me where i was & i told her i was js gettin ready to get out of the hse. She told me to bring down Lionel's birth cert & rushed down to the 24hrs clinic opposite the hardware shop. I asked her wat happen to Lionel. She told me that the shelf fell onto him & injured his head, causing a deep wound & non stop bleeding.
Rushing to retrieve Lionel's cert & stuff, i woke hb up at the same time & told him in a gist on what had happened. I rushed to the clinic & there was Lionel seated on the chair with a gauze on his head. His shirt & my mil's shirt were both covered with blood. Gluesome sight!
The doc suggested to bring Lionel down to the hospital A&E Dept to hv an x-ray done. So holding onto the doc's ref ltr, i hail a cab & took Lionel to KK. At the same time, i sms my manager & told her that i will not be reporting for work.
We paid $80 for the registration & consultation fees. The nurse at the trainage area was kind enuff to arrange for the doc to see to Lionel first. After finding out what causes the injury, the doc told me stitching wld be required & he wld apply some anaesthetic gel ard the wound to numb the area.
After applying the gel ( i didnt know that gel wld help; i always thot its by physical injection), we went for the x-ray. The nurse explained that using gel on kids helps to ease the anxiety & causes no pain at all. Physical injection will inflict some pain & causing the kids to be more tense & refusal to coporate during the stitching procedure.
We got our x-ray report & waited for abt half an hour ( the min time needed for the anaesthetic to take effect). Lionel lied down & the doc, assisted by 2 nurse help with the stitching procedure. It was over in 10 mins. Lionel was very cooperative & kept very still thru out the procedure. i asked him if he can feel anything, he say he can feel the thread "running in & out" of his forehead. Haha!
The doc prescribe some antibiotic cream to apply on his stitched wound 3 times a day for 5 days. Also gave him 2 bottles of paracetomal for fever & pain in case. We are to go back on Fri afternoon to remove the stitches.

Next major news: its now Rachel's turn to get infected with the stupid chix pox. Yesterday's evening, my mil pointed out some look alike mozzie bites on Rachel's legs & backside. We applied some calamine lotion on it. This morning, my mil bot Rachel to the doc & the doc confirmed its chix pox. Same doc who has seen Lionel & hb.
To my in laws, chix pox on kids is nothing too major for them. They know the neccessary procedures; what to eat, what to apply & what nots! I also understand the fact that the younger u kenna chix pox, the better - easier to heal & u recover faster. IF u kenna chix pox when u get older, and i mean like 40s or 50s, its even worst.
My poor girl was so restless this morning; she's gt slight temp. But again mil says its ok de, dun worry. she's heaty inside, dat's why she's running a fever. its normal....bla bla bla.... fil already prepared a big pot of sugar cane water & pig's liver for all 3 of them ( lionel, rachel & hb)
Shd i get a vacination against chix pox for myself? Am i too late? As far as i remembered, i hv nvr gotten chix pox at all. I only remembered gettin mumps & i tink measles or izit....watever.
Wa sey....if i get chix pox, my 14 days mc gone liao lor...and hor...worst...i js started work....not to mention 14 days of unpaid leave but also its like i will not be entitled to anymore medical leave after confirmation. ( if i do get confirm ) Faint!
