For today's lesson, we did a recap on the note values & their counts, the different pitches & their placing on the staff. Teacher Marcia did a new song with the kids today "Hockey Pocky". The kids really enjoyed themselves. They did the song twice, in fact.
On the activity book, the kids use the stickers to paste the missing notes on the keyboard (shown below)
This is suppose to help the kids know their finger placing on the keyboard & keep in mind the notes before & after each.
For homework, (i think it includes last week's as well), they are suppose to colour the 2 black keys red & the 3 black keys blue. And also to paste the missing notes on the keyboard.
For this piece, they are suppose to help Jenny find her way to pick some fruits by following the route with 3 black keys, and then tick what fruits did Jenny pick.
This is the next piece of piano homework that Rachel has to learn which includes crochet - 1 count & minim- 2 counts. So they have to say out the notes as they play, eg: (top) E E D C2 C2, E E E E E2 D2, (bottom) D D C D2 D2, D D D E D2 C2.
Teacher Marcia emphasize to all parents & kids to practice on the piano 1 min every day.
This above piece is for score reading. I can actually get Rachel to read the notes & play on the keyboard to listen to the notes played.
Seimpi is holding a Christmas Prom Concert this December on the 19 @ DBS Auditorium. Teacher Marcia told us that Rachel & her classmates are only going to perform some song items with actions whereas the bigger kids will be playing the keyboard.
I need to sign the consent form & return to the teacher by 30 Sep. I will defintely allow Rachel to perform on stage as this will help boost her confidence.
