Love Story

I remembered a love story between a couple. This was a movie filmed in Thailand & of cos its obviously acted by Thai actors & actresses. The language was also in Thai but there was the English subtitle. I cant remembered the title of the show though. :P

Its abt a young couple living happily in a kampong area by the river. The women wld wash & chit chat every morning by the river & there wld be song & music every evening.

Once, the young husband had to leave his pregnant wife for work in the city. He did nt know when he was able to return so the wife promised she wld wait by the river till his return.

After many years, the husband came back. He saw his wife & daughter waiting for him by the river & was over-whelmed with joy.

( Truth was, his wife had a difficult labour & both mother & daughter had died).

The young husband did not realised that he was living & seeing his wife & daughter's spirit daily. Till one fine day, his neighbour did not bear to see him living in a "make up" atmosphere, he decided to approach the young husband to tell him the truth. But the husband did nt believed him & argued that his wife was right beside him.

This neighbour then went to the temple to seek help from the monks there. Everyone knew of this loving couple & everyone knew hw did the wife died.

One monk went over to this young husband's place to try & relate to him the happenings but was drove away by the young man too. In his bid to warn him as soon as he cld, he cried out to the husband:" If u dun believed me, look down in between ur feet & u will see the truth".

One fine day, the young husband came back from the marketplace & cldnt see his wife & dotter anywhere. He searched high & low but to no avail. Night came & there was still no news of his wife & dotter. The young husband suspected something was wrong for his wife wld nvr leave the kampong. He remembered what the monk told him & he braced himself for the truth.

He spread his legs wide open & looked down, in between his feet. What he saw almost took his breath away. The house was totally bare, the grounds was covered with weeds, there were no chixs, no goats, & no pigs. Spider webs were everywhere & the bamboo house in which they were living was threatening to fall apart.

He was is a state of shock, nt understanding all that had happened. He ran to the temple to seek advice from the monk. The monks went into a trance, hoping to bring back the spirit of his wife. She came, but was very angry. She accused the monks of breaking up herself & her husband.

The monks managed to pacify & calm her down, explaining that spirits & humans cannot live together & that there was no point in hiding the truth. That wld nt be able to last & the husband wld eventually find out.

They bid each other a last farewell & the wife told the husband to remarry. The monks promised the husband that his unborn baby wld be reincarnated to be his dotter again.

Years later, the husband married another girl & they had a healthy baby girl. What's surprising was that the girl looked exactly like his ex wife & their dotter had a red mole on the bottom of her feet, something which the monk had told him years ago when he promised him that his unborn dotter wld be with him again.

This may nt sound romantic but if u happened to watch this movie, i believed you wld tear as well. I did. :)
