30 April 2011 (Sat):
I copied the below tooth chart from Eve's blog with permission granted from her. Thanks gal. **ignore the pink highlighted ones. **
Look at the upper teeth, the central incisor. It states the shedding date to be around 6-7 years of a child. Lionel lost his upper left central incisor last year & till date, the new tooth has not yet erupt.
According to the chart, it also shows that the lower central incisor to shed around 6-7 years & Lionel also both left & right ones during this period. His lower left central incisor has regrown & is waiting for its partner, the lower right central incisor to grow back as well.
So as of now, Lionel still has his upper left central incisor & lower right central incisor missing.
I hv told Lionel that since his lower left central incisor has regrown, he has to really take good care of it this time round. This little baby is known as the adult tooth & will NOT be replaced by another one if he loses this as well.
His upper left central incisor should be ready to make its appearance, anytime from 6 - 12 years of age.
According to studies shown, all humans has 28-32 teeth by adulthood. The 1st set, also known as baby teeth comes thru at the age of 6 months. They will eventually have 20 sets of teeth & losing them one by one. The second permanent set of teeth consist of 32 teeth. First 28 appears between 6 - 12 years of age while the last 4, also known as wisdom teeth, starts making its appearance at the age of 20. However, wisdom tooth may or may not appear for people with small jaw. This is common & you do not have to worry about it.
I really hope for Lionel to retain all his remaining baby teeth for as long as possible. To only shed his baby teeth becos the adult teeth needs to make it appearance & not becos of tooth decay or infection. Goes the same for Rachel.

Sembawang Park
22 April 2011 (Sun):
The next so call important event for this evening was the celebration of Mother's Day. Mother's Day actually falls on 09 May 2011 (the 2nd Sun of May). We had it earlier so as to avoid the crowd.
Both sils decided in advance to have it @ Jia Cu @ Admiralty Country Club but alas, it was no longer in operations so they decided to have dinner @ 1036 Fresh Seafood (1036 活海鲜) along Sembawang Road leading to Sembawang Park.
I did not take any photos for the evening as we were all busy tucking in the moment the 1st dish comes. We were all hungry. To add on, my camera didnt work wonders for pictures at Sembawang Park either. It was dark, with only a few street lamps here & there.
The kids enjoyed themselves & practically "scare" away the catches of those fishing with all their yelling & screaming. Haha...
Hubby prompted to have dinner @ Msia on 01 May (Labour Day) with my own mum. We'll see if she is free on that day. :)

Woodlands Waterfront - Part 2
22 April 2011 (Fri):
Part 2 of today's outing. I requested Daddy to bring us to Woodlands Waterfront. It was already 6.30pm in the evening. But the sky was still quite bright & many people were around for gatherings, picnics, fishing, taking a stroll, kids running around, etc.
We walked up the jetty area, looked at the catches of those fishing, took photos & of cos the highlight of the evening, the playground. Lionel & Rachel was gamed enough to try all the ropes & swings & even the great spider web. Mummy, looking from the bottom, was freaking out, wondering if they know how to climb down since going up was easier.
We saw many kite lovers with their greatly modified kites, with LED attached. There was a kite resembling the sting ray with long LED tails which enticed many onlookers. It was a great sight. It looked as if there was really a sting ray flying high up in the sky.
We end the day with dinner at a nearby coffeeshop which was also packed with people. The main dinner menu on everybody's list was claypot bak ku teh or tzi char.
Burp!!

Singapore Biennale 2011 - Part 1
22 April 2011 (Fri):
Singapore Biennale Open House 2011 @ Old Kallang Airport. From Yishun, we took the MRT to Bishan, interchange to the Circle Line & again to the East West Line @ Paya Lebar.
We tried our hands at kite decorating & flying, SAM badge making, glitter tattoo, had lunch @ Toast Box, took the shuttle bus to 8Q Museum (former St. Joseph Institution), had pre dinner snacks @ Macs along Parklane & took bus 857 home.
Part 2 of the evening, we were @ Woodlands Waterfront with Daddy since he met us at the bus-stop upon arriving in Yishun. That's for another post though.
Balloon sculpture. Lionel requested for a sword & Rachel for a flower.
Kite decorating. Materials used were quite flimpsy & soon both kites were damaged & tored. The kids got themselves entangled with the string attached while running ard each other & Mummy was entasked to free the kids from the mess created & unwind the strings. In the end, both kites ended up in the dustbin after numeruos attempts to unwind the entangled strings. Naturally, both kids got quite upset & Mummy here lost her temper & threaten to go home. I'm sorry dears.
Glitter tattoos. Who says adults cannot have tattoos as well? This one little boy kept on jumping the queue & stepping on my feet. He pushed & squeezed & i was feeling damn irritated with him. I told him off " Boy, can u pls stop pushing ur way thru & can u pls wait for your turn? Its very rude to push & step on people's toes without even apologising. "He gave me a look as if i was speaking to some aliens. Damn kid!!!
On the way to 8Q. Rachel feel asleep on the shuttle bus & hence, i decided against alighting @ Merlion Park. That place was packed with people. And so we continue with our journey to the National Museum of Singapore & 8Q.
Oh. An incident happened @ the National Mueseum of Sinagpore coach bay. While waiting for people to fill up the bus, a lady enquried abt the stops in which we wld made. She told the driver that she still has another 5 friends coming soon & cld he stopped more guest from boarding the bus. Meaning to say, she wanted to reserved the seats for her friends. The driver of cos told her that this cannot be done; first come first served. She made a face & stamped her foot on the bus, disgracing herself. Her son was embarassed, asking why she had to make a scene. The other friends can board the next bus right?
I think that woman sort of mouthed some bad words cos her son blurted out loudly: " Say somemore bad words lah, say loudly lah, you only disgraced yourself more. "
In the end, her 5 friends got to stand. The driver was kind enough to wait for her friends though. Horrible woman!

Thumbs Up Junior
21 April 2011 (Thurs):
My mil ordered Thumbs Up Junior from ZaoBao. This is a pre school version suitable for pre-schoolers. There is another version for pri 1 - 6 known as Thumbs Up.
Lionel looks forward to each copy & is excited to read thru everything the moment he lay his hands on it. If you like me, were born in the 70s or 80s, you wld remember our pri sch days, an English magazine entitled " Young Generation ".
This junior magazine has many interesting chapters & topics such as stories, nature, games, craft, etc...
故事银行,世界眼睛,说话泡泡,游戏车站,新加坡啦,方块文字,传说森林,动一动笔,拇指信箱,我爱海报
I read thru & find the magazine interesting as well. Good practice for Lionel too. Thumbs Up!!!

Food + Car
17 April 2011 (Sun):
We went across to JB again & stopped for dinner at this steamboat restaurant, Farmland Porridge Steamboat. Quite a few Singapore registered cars parked at the roadside, so i believed this must be one of those recommended ones.
* Note: The 2 kids did not tag along this time for they were off to swimming with my sil.
They have 4 kinds of soup base: clear soup, tomyan soup, original porridge & pumpkin porridge. Comes with 4 different sets of steamboat ingredients for you to choose. We chose original porridge + set C which consists of shrimp, fish slices, fish balls, pork balls, vegetable balls, salmon fish balls, dumpling, wanton, taiwan sausage, crab roll, beancurd skin, golden mushroom, quail'seggs, chinese cabbage & ye mo vegetable. Looks like a lot of varieties right? But in fact, each type is only 1-2 pieces.
We also ordered another plate of sliced pork to go along.
We spent RM47.04 in total. Afterwhich, we proceeded to Giant.
Our car gave us problem. One of our windows couldnt be wind-up no matter how we pushed against the remote. Grrr....end up hubby has to buy some tools & manually "rape" the door to get to the glass & push up from inside. We managed to hold the window in place after quite some time, fidgeting with some complicated parts but ultimately, we still have to send the car to a repair shop for further assessment.
I have no shopping time in return. Haiz!

Series of events
12 April 2011 (Tues):
What i'm gg to narrate next happened on Sun, 10 April 2011. I mentioned in my last post that my blog went haywire if i tried to post the videos under the same post as " Ballet ".
At first, i thought it was maybe the post was too long.So i deleted all the written happenings. Then, i did more editing & realised the problems lies with the videos instead. Haiz.
But its true a series of events happened on Sun.
Part 1 - the sky looked dark & gloomy that morning. Not risking to be caught in the rain, i took the bus with Lionel to his class @ 0910am. (his class starts at 0930am). Then i went over to the CC to check on some stuff regarding E-Filing but it was closed. Not wanting to waste time, i combed & tied Rachel's hair (she requested 2 ponytails) first so that i can changed for her once i get back.
At 1040am, i went back to pick Lionel (he finishes at 11am) & rushed back for Rachel has ballet lessons at 11.30am. What a morning!!!
Luckily it did not rained.
Part 2 - In the afternoon, we had our annual tomb sweeping event. The date was 三月初八, 8th day of the 3rd mth in the lunar calendar. The sky was threatening to rain but no worries, we went well prepared. Ponchos, hats, umbrellas, canvas sheet, etc... not to mention extra clothings for the children.
We had in total 5 families with 4 cars (at least 6-7 people to a car). It was a tight squeeze. One of our family car was stuck in the yucky mud @ CCK cemetry (it had been raining the night before) & was not able to move neither forwards nor backwards. The elders tried placing some rocks at the wheels to increase friction while my cousin (the driver) slammed hard on the accelarator. The rest of us helped in pushing the car, whichever direction was needed & guess what? Some of us (not me) got splashed with wet, sticky, yucky mud. Gross!
Part 3 - The rained took pity on us & decided to " helped " us. Down came the heavy torrents of rain & we quickly put on our ponchos, hats, umbrellas & even the big canvas sheet. Luckily we had already got the car out of the mud, otherwise how to push a car while putting on ponchos or hold umbrellas at the same time?
Now this was a sight to behold. If you were at CCK cemetry on that day, seen a large blue canvas sheet over a certain tomb, with over 20 people standing under it, that's us!
For those stepping out of the canvas sheet to burn joss papers, the unbrellas didnt helped much. The rain was just too heavy. Basically, nearly everyone got wet except the kids. These 2 were precious...cannot afford to get them wet ")
This was also a mobile canvas sheet. Haha.... Some of us held the sides of the canvas sheet while the rest just walked under it & navigate round to another tomb after we were done with the previous one. If u happen to see from afar, you will laugh at the sight of a moving piece of canvas sheet. You cannot missed out the bright blue colour.
Final part of this series of events - after we finished with the tomb sweeping ( 5 graves for 5 dearly departed family members), we were all famished. But not before all of us headed home for a nice hot bath.
We had pork floss prawns, butter cream crabs, claypot noodles, claypot spare ribs, specialty tofu, slice fish with bitter gourd, stir fry veggies & many more. The bill came up to $160 per table.
All of us slept early that night for we were all tired out.

This 2 videos was supposed to be posted under the previous post, date 10 April 2011 (Sun) but for no apparent reason, my blog design wld go haywire if i do that. My sidebars wld appear at the bottom instead & some of them wld either be missing or wld only show half of its image.
Enjoy.

Sheep
05 April 2011 (Tues):
Rachel was doodle-ing on her drawing block when I told her to do her homework. She packed up her colouring crayons & drawing block & was about to put them on the table when she blurted out " oh sh** "
I turned my head towards her & was like " Rachel, what did u just say?" She replied loud & clear " oh my sh** ".
" i thought mummy told you not to say such words. This is not very nice. "
" But mummy, i say sh**, i didnt say anything. "
" Rachel, stop using that word. Its very rude. "
" (pointing to a paper cut-out sheep that was on the floor) but mummy, my sh** dropped on the floor. "
I nearly died laughing.
" Rachel, look at mummy's mouth. its sheeeeep, not sh**. Say sheep. "
" Sheep. "
She cracks me up. :)

A-Z vs 1-10
04 April 2011 (Mon):
LK was complaining to me Rachel still doesnt know how to write her ABCs & 123s. This cannot be for Rachel does practice her writings on a regular basis. I won't say daily (supposed to). So we got a piece of paper out & asked Rachel to write out her alphabets & numbers.
So far she knows:
A B C (her curve is not perfect though) D E F G (not very accurate)
H I (her top & bottom horizontal lines are too short and she draws the line from right to left iso left to right) J K L M N (both M & N she's not sure) O P
Q (she forgets the little tail) R (she writes P instead till i prompt her that there's another stroke) S
T U (not sure of the curve) V (she writes like the letter A minus the middle line & turns the paper updown down to tell us its V)
W ( not clear on how she should go up & down with the lines) X Y Z.
For 1 2 3 4 5 6 okay, then she shake her head at 7 8 9 & lastly 10, perfect 10. :) And not fogetting her small letters too..

Lionel is 6
03 April 2011 (Sun):
2 days ago, we went to Northpoint to browse around for a suitable birthday cake. We ended up with Four Leaves & ordered Yogurt Frost @ $32.
But before this, Daddy told me he went down to Chinatown Plaza, particularly to this pastry shop. He wanted to try a small piece of cake ( recommended by our local TV program) & if good, wanted to order from them. But alas, everything was sold out. Even the cakes off the shelf was also sold out. Can u believe this?
We log online to have a look but was put off by the price. We didnt want to take any risk in ordering for fear the cakes would not turn out nice.
About 5pm on this day, Daddy bought us to Jurong Sports Complex for the kids to enjoy themselves at the pool. Admission: $2/adt & $1/chd. They have various types of pool there: wave pool, lazy river, children pool & even tube slides. Both kids enjoyed themselves very much.
I didnt take any photos cos i was buzy enjoying myself too. However, Daddy says we will come back again soon. Then i will take as many pics as possible. :)
On our way home, Daddy decided to play a trick on Lionel. He purposely went to buy a small piece of cake that cost about $2, you know, those kind that has a small toy on the top. He told Lionel that that would be his birthday cake for the evening celebration.

So pardon Lionel's look in the video. He was very upset when he realised the small cake was indeed his birthday cake. So even when we brought out the actual cake, he still didnt look too happy becos we played this trick on him. Only when he was given the whole piece of the small cake for himself did he perked up & enjoy himself.
Bad bad Daddy! Haha...
** Reviews of the Yogurt Frost that we ordered: Thumbs Upzzzz!!!
