My nephew celebrated his 1st birthday party this evening. It seemed so recently that we just attended his 1st month baby shower.

A New Look for a New Term

The school holidays are coming to an end.... hence here's Lionel with a new hairdo for a new term. Rachel has also been spotting a new hairdo for the past few weeks; will post her photos up here once i get the chance to take a few.

KSL City

17 Jun 2012 (Sun):

A trip into JB, Malaysia with friends... KSL City Mall was our destination. We boarded bus S1 from JB Sentral with  a 20mins interval frequency. Cost: RM$1.50/person. Erm... put in the exact amount as i do not think the driver has spare change.

Our bus has arrived. Time: 1240pm

RM$1.50 per ticket..

1st stop: LUNCH. Too many choices but in the end we decided at this cafe.

Bubble Tea; our must have

Honey marinated pork cutlet with rice x 1 set.

Spicy mixed beef with rice x 2 sets.

Our side dish...same for 3 sets of main.

Our total: RM$82.95

What's shopping & makan without entertainment? Karaoke naturally.

KBox. We sign up for a year long membership @ RM$10. The package deal is much more attractive @ RM$88 with 2 different snacks to choose from & a jug of soft drinks/beer

I believed this is their mascot which we saw at every corner & on every walls inside the premises.

For dinner, we had ours at Shihlin.

Oyster Mee Sua not to be missed... with chix cutlet & sweet potato in sour plum.

For dessert, more bubble tea & their must have on the menu... grass jelly, yam, fen yuan, barley & crushed ice...

Blackball... we passed by this store & saw how crowded it was... so we believed its a must to have...

We took the shuttle back to JB Sentral, took service 170 back to Kranji Station. OMG! The crowd of people at the terminal.... Yikes!!!

By the time i reached home, its almost 12 midnight..opps! And to think, i still have to work the next day.

K1 Mid Term Assessment 2012

I suddenly remembered Rachel's progress report has not been "reported" here yet... so here goes:

This is her portfolio page in year 2012. Her weight taken: 15kg. Height: 100cm..

 

Her results were not satisfactory, especially for English in her 1st semester..

English Picture Talk: 9.0...excellent

Reading: 8.0... not too bad

Written: 54.0... that's bad!

Spelling: 10.0.... well done

Total: 81.0... only B

Mathematics: 98.0.. good job!

Chinese Picture Talk: 10... very good

Reading: 8... not too bad

Written: 66... acceptable

Spelling: 10... fantastic

Total: 98... at least an A star

Language Arts: She is strong with identifying new words. She shows evidence of using phonics skills when making educated guess.

Maths Concept: She displays interested in Maths. She shows motivation when invited to solve Math sums on the board. SHe is defintely a team player in classs!

Chinese Language: 佳璇在这半年的学习中，口语发音有了很大的进步， 原本发不清楚的音节现在能很好地发出来了，认读和书写也都完成的很好，希望你继续努力，你的华文一定会有更大的提高。

Top: Rachel was able to talk about the functions of our mouths. She is able to complete any assignments independently.

Bottom: 谢佳璇能够用完整的句子向朋友们介绍自己的家人和他们的爱好，个别词句发音不准。

Overall, I feel that Rachel still has ample room for improvement. Hmmm... hoping she does better for the 2nd semester.

Sunway Lagoon

We ventured out into Sunway Lagoon the next morning after breakfast.

This was taken the night before at Sunway Pyramid. It was a short walk from our hotel.

 Hey, Sunway Pyramid has an ice skating ring. We were here once more than a decade ago... dun remember seeing one then.. 

Outside of the resort, we couldnt find our way into the theme park... LOST!

Nope.... we found our way & were soon enjoying ourselves, splashing & sliding.

Admission Fees: ALL 5 parks - water park, amusement park, wildlife park, extreme park & scream park: RM100/adt & RM80/chd ( 3 - 11 yrs)

For only 3 parks - water park, amusement park & wildlife park: RM80/adt & RM65/chd (3 - 11 yrs).

There's even a RM10 deposit fee per person for the wristwatch which u got to put on whilst at the park & it is refundable upon exit or u may choose to exchange for a gift. 

Splish splashing..... the kids & adts alike played this slide for upteem times...

Wildlife park. We saw many animals; there was even an animal interactive corner where you can pet small animals like the rabbits ( dozens of them around), hamsters, guinea pigs, etc..

 

This butterfly landed on Rachel's hand & she was not afraid at all. In fact, she was so happy & requested me to take a photo of it.

 

Amuesement park... not many photos taken... I was very tired... We stayed till closing time, had dinner & was on our way home at 7.30pm. Suprisingly, we reached home at 12.30am. Actually we reached JB customs at 11.30pm  ( 4 hrs from Sunway to JB) & as usual, we met up major jam.

Beggar's Chicken @ Banting, Selangor.

02 Jun 2012 (Sat):

We made a reservation for 3pm @ Beggar's Chicken, Banting, Selangor. Since its 30mins drive away from KLIA, Nilai, we concluded we should reach there in less than 4 hours (remembering our trip up to KLIA in 2009). So i thought if we drove off at 9am, the timing would be just right. But hubby was thinking otherwise. Let's see who won.

We went up with friends & as we were nearing the location, we lost our way. Luckily, i have the contact number in my mobile & i gave the restaurant a call. Turned out, we were only round a bend away. 丐帮名菜叫化鸡. Time: 3.15pm

We left at 9am.... but got caught in a major traffic jam at both side of the customs... delaying our ride for over an hour..

This was the oven area where they baked all orders, such as the chicken & duck, though i'm not sure if the Beggar's Pig Trotters was baked here too..

Cough cough.... all the sand & dust flew everywhere when the lady starts shoving the coal & ashes.

A recommended place to eat by Malaysia's Variety Show: 阿贤人情味. Not to mention, various blogs & reviews were written on this place too.

The surroundings, as it is, after we finished our meals & went out to have a look around.

We ordered: Beggar's Chicken @ RM 48.00, Beggar's Duck @ 48.00...

Traditional Rice @ RM38.00, seasonal veggies @ RM8.00, Beggar's Pig Trotters @ RM51.00, steamed fish @ RM45.00... plus soft drinks & chinese tea... our total amount: RM282.00 for 4 adts & 5 children.

We made our way to our hotel which is located at Bandar Sunway. Our friend took us for a drive thru small roads aka short cuts. Hey, the moment we turned out onto the highway again, Sunway is right before our eyes.
