Day 6 - 31 Jan 2009

Our 2nd last day in Perth - Fremantle

We took a train to Fremantle from Perth Station. Upon alighting, we glance ard the city of Fremantle. It looks deserted at first, just like Perth City. But as we venture further in, the streets became very crowded. Fremantle is the port of Perth with famous monuments like Notre Dame University, WA Maritime Museum, "E" Shed, Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, etc...

This is the Maritime Musuem. We gt the admission at a concession fees of A$5 per adt A$3 per chd. They hv different exhibits such as Tin Canoe to Australia II, Hooked on Fishing, Indian Ocean, Swan River, Cargoes, Naval Defence, Shipwreck Galleries & Submarine Ovens.

Fremantle Market. Selling all sorts from food & veggies, to souvenirs, gifts, toys, clothings. Its is only open on Fris, Sats & Suns.

Next to the Shipwreck Galleries (which we did not visit cos its already closed) is the Challenger Harbour. Here we hv a whole stretch of board walk along the harbour with its yatchs, saling boats & restaurants. Mostly alfresco dining, the main specialty is the Fish & Chips.

2 diff restaurants:

1) Cicerella's Landing - The Original & Still The Best

2) Kailis - Voted The Best Fish n Chips.

So which is better? From the way the crowds march in, both of them can fight. Though we did not hv our dinner there, we can see dat it is very popular. Why didnt we hv our dinner there since its their specialty? Cos prior to dat, we hv already had our tea. There's a DOME cafe & we all plonked down to hv a bite.

Towards the end of the day, we all too a rest in a nearby park after shopping.

Day 7 - 01 Feb 2009

Arrival:

Today we are all goin back to Singapore. In the morning, all of us except Mummy & Daddy went to King's Park for a morning walk after breakfast. No fotos to show as Mummy's camera didnt come along. :) Let's see if 小姑 hv any fotos to provide.

Our flight QF 71 PER/SIN departs @ 1635hrs. We did some last min packing & checked out at abt 1300hrs. There was supposed to 2 taxis picking us up but no show. So we went outside & flagged down 2 cabs.

Our flight was delayed by 40 mins. We reached Singapore at ard 21oohrs. Boy! We were all soooooo tired. Rachel fell asleep after the flight took off & was sleeping thru out the flight. (Remember i said Rachel was sleeping even b4 the flight took of on Day 1 & only woke up after we landed. "Easy Baby! " Mummy claims :P ). It was only when we touched down that she gt up. As for me, i only slept after my dinner.

It was a fanstatic trip for us kids. We enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. Looking forward to the next trip.....

虚惊一场

Mummy was going for her dinner when 舅公 came & told Mummy Rachel is missing. " What? Where?" Mummy gt a shocked. Didnt Mummy saw 舅公 walked behind Rachel all along. Didnt 舅公 set his sights on Rachel thru out? If yes, hw did Rachel go missing.

Mummy panicked. She look all ard outside the shop, passed Guardian, passed POSB, passed the coffee shop, in & ard & out of those make shift stalls selling cny decors & stuff but still no Rachel. Mummy's heart skip a beat. What if? Her thoughts ran wild.....

Mummy went back & told Ah Ma Rachel is missing. Ah Ma also gt a shock & went ard looking for her as well. Mummy told me to stay with the kor kor @ No. 1 Media Centre.

Mummy, Ah Ma & 舅公 went ard, zigzaging ard the tables at the coffee shop just in case Rachel is squatting down somewhere but no sign of her. People we know helped look ard but also cannot find her.

Mummy heart beat faster & faster. Wild thoughts ran in her mind....

Mummy went back to the shop & guess what? Rachel was in the arms of 小姑. Hw come leh? Apparently, Rachel saw 小姑 walking past Guardian & aimed to follow her. But we nvr see 小姑. All Mummy saw was Rachel walking away & since 舅公 was walking along with her, Mummy didnt follow.

小姑 said she heard familiar sounds & turned ard. Rachel was calling after her. She saw Rachel behind her & so she carried her up but 小姑 didnt see 舅公. 舅公 on the other hand said he only saw Rachel zig-zaging ard people ( Chong Pang area was very crowded) & soon lost her.

Mummy was so happy when she saw Rachel in 小姑's arm dat she broke down & cried. ( tears of joy anyway). Mummy carried Rachel & hugged her tightly.

Really 虚惊一场 leh!

When Fever Medication Is Not Available

Mummy: This is something i learnt while watching the re telecast of Glamour Mums & The Dude (辣妈好时尚)- co host by Brian Wong(王禄江)& a different mum for each episode, eg: Pan Ling Ling, Zoe Tay, Huang Biren, etc..

Maybe some of you may know abt this already but according to Pan Ling Ling, here's a little remedy if you cant find paracetomol when ur child is having fever.

2 teaspoon of green beans
half teaspoon of salt
hot boiling water

Put the green beans into a glass. Add half teaspoon of salt & pour in the hot boiling water. Let the beans simmer for abt 15 mins. Drink as per normal, just like drinking plain water. The fever will subside.

I hv yet to try so i do not know if it works but no harm anyway. Will try it out if i remember. :)

Solution

Our great helper - Coloured Compressed Bag

Small luggage

Its occupants.

Big luggage

Its occupants on one side

Their neighbours

Mummy gt a solution to her packing for our trip to Perth. She bot the Compressed Air Bags @ only $2 per piece, where from? Daiso of cos. Made in Japan somemore. (Some products are made from China though).
These zipper bags helped Mummy easily save alot of space. Usually if we just dump in the clothes into the luggage, the clothes wld hv already taken up at least 80% of the luggage space but with the help of these bags, 50% of the luggage space saved.
So you can see both ours clothings - myself & Rachel's, were easily bundled into the small luggage - mine on 1 side & Rachel's on the other side. For the big luggage, its Daddy's & Mummy's stuff plus the neccessary "condiments". Haha! Same packaging - Daddy's stuff on 1 side & Mummy's the other side. It really helps alot.
But Mummy says may wanna trsf our belongings to another big luggage as well cos seems more & more stuff to pack. Daddy on the other hand says 1 big & 1 small luggage is enuff. Mummy asked Daddy y wanna squeeze. Isnt 2 big luggages better? More storage space & more spread out. Daddy asked Mummy 1 qn: "Who's carrying the luggages? You or me?" Haha :P
Maybe u readers wld like to vote: 1 big & 1 small or 2 big luggages better.

Chinatown

Rachel

Lionel

All time favourites - Taiwan Mua Chee

Nian Gao

Sweets

La Wei

Pussy Willows

New Year Decors

New Year cookies

North Bridge Road decor

Eu Tong Sen St decor

New Year crowd

Spot Rachel?
Daddy came home at 7.30pm & say: " Lets go Chinatown". Mummy was a little surprised dat Daddy wld mentioned abt it cos past yrs when Mummy asked Daddy to go, Daddy wld usually reject cos he hate to squeeze with the crowd.
We reach Chinatown ard 8.30pm cos Ah Ma says we hv to finish our dinner first.
The roads looks quite empty. No conjestion at all. Usually ard Chinatown Point, the traffic wld be jammed up but tis yr, the roads are free for one to move easily. Even the small streets where all the stalls are set up looks less then half of last years' crowd. (bearing in mind tis already the last sun b4 cny)
Mummy says due to economic downfall, tis yr's festival not so much of activities. The new year cookies are selling very cheaply, as cheap as like $1.20 per container (usually min $5-$8), new year decors as cheap as $0.50 - $1.00 (usually $2.50 - $3) per piece. Even the size of the stalls are like half of last yr.
Just look at the road decors. So simple but dull. The word "Chun" doesnt stand out. Even the "cows" looks kinda sad. Daddy was wondering if there will be any fireworks but apparently no lor. Mummy mention dat there isnt even any firework set up; no stage = no fire crackers. So quiet!
Anyway, no matter hw the economy is, cny celebrations are still part of Singapore's event. (even for asians ard the world). Here's wishing all:
A Happy Lunar New Year. Gong Xi Fa Cai
Wan Shi Ru Yi!!!

GUG lesson 3

I missed lesson 2. Dun tink i will be attending lesson 4 too as its cny eve. Mummy need to help out with the dinner preparations. For tis lesson, we again learn the # 9 cos only 9 of us in class. Teacher drew 9 cars on the board. We learn the letter C - Catina Cat, together with clock, corn & cup.

We also had craft work & confidence builder. For craft, we were given half a corn each, rolled ard our paper after we dipped in colour paint. Tis time, its my turn. I put the corn in my mouth. Mummy hurriedly took wet tissue to clean my mouth & bot me to the toilet to wash up. Teacher Devi even laughed: she knew its gonna happen. Haha... Dun worry! The paint's non toxic.
