Orchard Light-ups

28 Nov 2010 (Sun):

Home at 6pm. Not wishing to sleep. Called Daddy. Asked: " Where are you? Can we go for dinner?"

Mummy took over the phone.

Appeared by Daddy's side at 7pm. No kidding! Hey, we took the MRT by the way, not taxi. That was fast. Hugs, more hugs, endless hug. Kisses, more kisses, endless kisses. A warm heart-warming scene between father & daughter. To those unknown, she has nt seen her Dad for ages. Blah! Who am i kidding? Not ages but days. Cycles upside down. Its all ' hi & bye '. For daddy has to work the graveyard shift, mending pipes & wires.

So it was a fantasy evening, well spent at Orchard, together with Daddy & Mummy. Minus the older mischevious monkey who did not want to join us.

Dinner, photos, running & jumping, swinging, lights, camera, in action mode, fun, fun, fun.

With the exception of one minor accident. Rachel fell off the steps while jumping merrily ard. Immediate action taken from Daddy to scope her up, she was crying hard. Memories arose of a particular period where Rachel slipped & fell & got a crack in her left arm bone. She was crying hysterically at that time.

We hurriedly got her to raised her arms, in a bid to test if she was okay. A sign of relief, she was able to move her arms as usual, laugh & talked within mins. This is my brave little koala bear. :)

Time passed by in a sec when u're having fun. It was already 30 mins passed 10 when we realised it. Off to the car we went & was soon home. Bath & hit the warm bed. Asleep within minutes. Memories for that night logged in.

Seimpi Lesson 19

28 Nov 2010 (Sun):

We had another lesson of music today. Again, Rachel was the only student as the other student will only be back next lesson.

We did our practise of our concert item & also the finale which is a medley of Xmas songs. Then we recapped Time Signatures - 2/4 counts, 3/4 counts, etc,

Tempo - Presto: Very fast like an aeroplane , Allegro - quick like a car, Andante - at a walking pace, Adagio - slowly like a cow pulling a cart, Largo - very slow & broad like a tortise.

Dynamics - piano, mezzo piano, forte & mezzo forte.

Music Symbols - Staccato: like a ball bouncing, Slur: like a boy skating, Tie: like twins holding hands & Fermata: like a car stopping at a traffic light.

We did some activities like Time Signatures where Rachel got to listen to the player & paste the correct corresponding stickers. Homework was given too as the above exercises were supposed to be done last week instead.

The above 2 activities were supposed to be done last week, so we did it in class today. Top: Paste the correct stickers to help Santa Claus decorate his Christmas tree. Bottom: Paste the correct stickers on the cart.

These 2 were the homework given for last week. To colour the different notes with a different colour. C - yellow, D - Red, E - Green, F - blue & G - pink.

Then she went on to practice on her piece: " The Muffin Man " & teacher Marcia commented that she did well. But need to practice more to play slightly faster.

Lastly, teacher Marcia informed that there will be 2 rehersals on 11 & 18 Dec respectively at 6pm. The costume for the actual day ( grr...i thought its provided by the school) has to be provided by ourselves instead. White santa hat ( can be purchase from Daiso) & white dress/blouse/pants. Shoes can be in any colour. Just to perform for this concert, i have to buy a white dress for Rachel & it may be the only time she will be wearing it. We dun celebrate Xmas nor is/are there any particular dinner (s) we will be attending where she can put it on frequently.

Guess she will be wearing white for CNY next year too.

Seimpi Lesson 18

Time as @ 120pm:

Its raining very heavily in Yishun right now. With lightning & thunder too. So i called mil to inform i will not be bringing Rachel over for classes this afternoon. I called Seimpi to inform as well.

I was comtemplating to withdraw Rachel from her music class as i'm really beginning to think she's really not ready yet. But i spoke to Rachel this morning and she insists on continue-ing. The thunder is really frightening..

Okay, maybe after her Xmas performance, i will have a talk with her teacher to see how things goes.

Another loud thunder bellowing high above my head.... followed by another... with cracks of lightning as well...eerie!

MBS Waterfront - A Dark Night

24 Oct 2010 (Sun): an overdue post

Pardon me. The below photos were taken from my not so good mobile so the pics might not be of gd quality & clarity.

Just when i thought - finally a good pic, she has to look down & fumble with Daddy's phone.

Tired after all those running about. Here's Daddy carrying her.

A Date With Pinochio

20 Nov 2010 (Sat):

Woke up to a sunny morning. Hooray for we were off on a date with Pinochio this afternoon @ 2pm. Dragged a reluctant Daddy to breakfast & back to take a shower & get dressed. My mum came around 11am to pick us up. On the way, we were met with a heavy traffic jam & followed by a heavy rain.
Pinochio - The Musical.

Some of the cast members:
Joanna Ampil who played the blue fairy.
Gerald Chew who played Geppetto & the Fox.
Kaeng Chan who played the Cricket & Coachman
Dwayne Tan - the voice of Pinochio
and many others who played a very important part/role in this production.

Many of you knewed Pinochio very well. A childhood story that teaches us the important facts of life like it is not good to tell lies & fall into temptations. This is a modern puppetry show with a good cast of singing, dancing, props & enagaging the audiences into a world of lights, colours & fantasy.

I bought the tickets via SISTIC, a family package of 4, priced at $32.25/ticket. I spent a total of $141.20, including a SISTIC fee of $12.00 & handling fee of $0.20.

We went to Liang Court ( former Daimaru), near Clarke Quay for lunch since DBS Arts Centre is nearby. We decided to have it at BOTEJYU Okonomiyaki Japanese Restaurant.

Lionel & Rachel posing for one or two shots before the food comes.

Seafood Yaki-Soba which my mum ordered.

Ozkos & Mushroom Rice Set. Ozkos is a Japanese Pancake. You can choose either pork or seafood.

After lunch as we still has some time to spare, the kids rode on a kiddy ride & we took some time off to do a little window shopping. ( of cos we were just nearby & the kids were well within our sight).

=============== Show Time ===============

We met up with my aunt after the show & the kids slept all the way from River Valley to Tampines. We had an early dinner around six at Ding Tai Fung. My aunt ordered the Xiao Long Bao ( which she was craving for), wonton noodles soup, marinated pork chops & fried rice with shrimps for the kids. We went on another round of window shopping. The kids posed with some Pokemon characters.

Onboard yet another kiddy ride.

This is another musical production which i am thinking to watch next year. The Ugly Ducking - about a little duckling who looks different. Teased & ridiculed on the farmyard, he ran away, meeting a host of colourful characters & eventually discovers that he is not a duckling after all.

In the evening, Lionel went to his art class & we headed home for a rest & showered before i went to pick up Lionel.
That concludes our evening on the 20 Nov 2010. A tired but enriching afternoon.
