Little Girls

An evening with Daddy's working partner & fren. This is a pic of me & Isabelle jie jie. She 's abt 3 yrs old, maybe slightly older.
We had dinner & us kids wandered around. Having warmed up a little too late, we only spent the last 15 mins getting close to one another.
We hold hands & walked back to the carpark, not knowing who's following whom. We say bye bye & good night to each other.
Tks Yong Hwee for a pic of ur dotter.

Fever

Mummy: Rachel developed high fever since yesterday morning. I asked mil to feed her paracetomol. I took her temperature & its a whopping 38.7 degrees. God! I quicky took her to see the GP & he prescribed 3 types of medication for fever & throat inflammation. Doc suspected it might be a case of H1N1 since her temp is more than 38 degrees. Her temperature ranges from 38.4 ~ 38.9 degrees the whole of yesterday. And needless to say, rachel was cranky & fidgetive the whole day.

We fed her another round of medication @ 8.30pm. She refused her dinner, her milk. Mil took eggs mixed with flour to form a dough which she used it to rub over Rachel's body. ( traditional method). Rachel fell asleep at 10pm.

Thru out the night, i was monitoring her & taking her temp almost every hr. Its still the same & her body was ever so hot. ( Cracked a raw egg over her body & the egg will cooked very soon). I kept sponging her body & i took the cooling gel pad to place on her forehead. Her temp drop to 37.8 degrees at abt 3am plus. I thot the thermometer was spoiled. I made her a bottle of milk which she finished. She fell asleep again & woke up ard 7am. She didnt want any milk but she seems unaffected by her fever. She laughed & played.

But this morning at 9am plus, she became cranky again i told mil if by noon time, her fever doesnt subsided, i am bringing her to KK. Hb asked is there need to do so or not cos Rachel is also affected by her throat inflammation. The fever will not subside so soon one. Fil bot her to see the doc again & tis time, another bottle of medication was given for stomach wind. But the doc also wrote a note & instructed us to bring her to KK if her fever doesnt subside by noon.

As i am typing this post, its already 11.47am. Rachel was sleeping when i left the shop. I do not know if she's awake yet. I will be popping by later to check on Rachel.

God, pls bless my little one.
==============================================

Updates @ 12.30pm: Went down to the shop to peep at my little one. She was still sleeping. However, mil told me her fever has since subsided. I touch her forehead gently. Her temp is just like normal. Her body heat are normal too. I took the thermometer & checked her temp: 37.6 degrees.

She woke up in a little while, saw me & requested for me to carry her up. Whoa! She was perspiring. Her clothes were soaked thru. I changed for her into a dry piece. Its a good thing she's perspiring. After drinking some water, she sat on my lap quietly.

Mil came down with her lunch - watery porridge since she doesnt want to eat anything. She finished up the whole bowl & ate her medication.

Soon, she was up & about. I told her she must walk around & not sit down everytime. From the looks of it, she has recovered & is able to run around. However, i told mil not to relax yet. Medication must still be given regardless whtr a temp is running or not. So the next medication time is abt 5.30pm since she last took at 1.30pm.

( the last time when her fever subsided, no more medication was given as we all thought she had completely recovered but her temp rise again. so this time we did not want to take the risk & hence to continue giving her the medication)

Once recovered, one got it! Lionel was also running a fever. I took his temp & it was 39 degrees. Paracetomol was given. But at 1.30pm plus, both kiddos were playing & running together.

Last temp taken (2.30pm): Lionel @ 37.4 degrees. Rachel @ 36.5 degrees.

Swimming

Aunt Sarah in her sexy 2 piece bikini..

Aunt Sarah called Mummy this afternoon & asked if she wanna go swimming. We went to Uncle Amos sister ( aunt sarah's sil)'s place @ Woodsville / Woodsvale Condo for a swim.

As it was close to Rachel's nap time, mummy did not bring her along. So me & mummy, aunt sarah, vicky & alexis & their 2 cousins went along. They ( vicky's 2 cousins) were the ones who were staying at the condo. I don not know how to swim so i mainly splashed around. Mummy says she will sent me for swimming lessons soon. But her "soon" hor...... dunno when!

We played for about 45 mins ~ an hr & mummy proceeded to wash up. Thereafter, it was my turn. Mummy said she felt a cold coming & indeed, she sneezed about 3 times & later that night, she caught the flu bug.

Mummy says that my swim suit is gettin too small & that i should be gettin new one. Mine will be handed down to R. But tis kind of thermal swim suit is nt cheap wor! Anyone has any lobang?

Half Day Outing

17 Oct 2009 - Sat.

Firstly, here's wishing all Hindus: A Very Happy Diwali.

Secondly, daddy finally completed most of his projects & has the time to bring us all out on another outing. The night before, he had already suggested to mummy to see the Central Fire Station, along Hill Street. On every Sat, there will be a 2 hour tour & interactive activities for the public; 9-11am.

We reached the station ard 10am as we all thot it will only be open @ 10am. We saw the sign & realised that the activities has already started abt an hr ago. Nervertheless, we managed to complete our guide & proceeded to the indoor gallery.

The Central Fire Station

Both of us having a feel as to how the firemen handle the water hose & realised hw powerful the jets of water are. You can even select the level of spray.
mummy: daddy playfully requested the fireman to aim a gentle spray at me, without my knowledge, thus i ended up being wet.

We also has a taste of hw the fireman felt inside their fire fighting, heat resistant protection clothings.

I love all sorts of vehicles, especially ambulances, fire engines, army trucks, etc. This is a lucky chance for me to sit inside an ambulance. ( for photography sake)

The boomlift attached to one of the fire engines, going higher & higher. This was the most popular interactive highlight & the longest q for it. We q'ed for abt half an hour, under the scorching hot sun before we gt a ride on it. The boomlift lifted us high abt 3 storeys high. The fire man personnel told us usually it will go higher during fire evacuation.

Inside the gallery. We has a look at all the different fire engines, from olden days till the present.
We also saw the various destructions in Singapore, example: The collapse of the New World Hotel in the 80s & the fire distruction of Bukit Ho Swee, where a major fire destroyed everything.
"On 25 May 1961, flames originating from the Tiong Bahru area spread rapidly to Bukit Ho Swee , a kampong (village) cluttered with thatched houses. Six fire engines, upon receiving the first call at 3.15pm, arrived to find a sea of cars & spectators.
Pandemonium reigned supreme throughout the operation - groups fled the burning scene, volunteers obstructed the firemen & looters took advantage of the mayhem. A total of 22 engines were deployed and firemen continued turning the embers over & over again for three days to prevent re-ignition.
The infamous fire devastated 250 acres of land (approx 1001 soccer fields) & destroyed 2200 attap houses. Four lives were lost & 85 persons injured. The estimated damage was $25,000"
After the tour, we wanted to head for lunch when we passed by The Stamp Museum. Daddy saw the admission fee & thinking to bypass when we saw a sign indicating: "Today Free Admission"
The Singapore Philatelic Museum. What is philately? It is the hobby of collecting & learning about postage stamps.

We saw the various stamps & some collectibles, from vintage to present day. For those of you whose daddies & mummies ever lived in 5 foot ways (五脚基) - 1960s ~ 1980s, you should remember the ever familiar mini "ah pu neh neh" shop ( indian provision), selling cigarettes, sweets, newspaper & magazines, similar to our current 7-11 or Cheers.
The coffeeshop with the big bowl of sugar, marble tables & wooden chairs, Jacob & Co's Cream Crackers Metal Container ( our ah gongs & ah mas loved hiding their valuables & keeping it safetly under the bed).
The wooden clog maker, red with green strips, where u see some aunties wearing those to market every morning, making the sound: clog clog clog...
And even the spice grinder shop. You can still see that in Little India. Big sacks of sugar, flour, all sort of spices, from curry powder to cinnamon to pepper.
We had lunch & head back home. After an afternoon nap, we had dinner with many many people. Its is actually a birthday celebration for 3 people whose birthdays falls in October. "一次过"..hehe
p/s: Something terrible happened to one of our family member today. 破财消灾 - u can tell from this clue.

Lionel @ 54 Months Old

Hello everybody, its been a long time. I am now 54 months old; that is about 4 years & 6 months old, so about 4.5 years old.

I will be attending K1 next year & soon i will be prpearing for primary school life. Mummy says i am a big boy now so i hv to start learning to be independent in alot of things. Mummy believes learning from young so i can adapt better in time to come or when the need arises.

Sometime ago, mummy's frens ask abt the list of primary schools she hope that i can study in. Mummy has a few frens whose kids are also the same age as me so they start comparing & questioning. Becos if u hv a school which you like very much for your kid to get a place in it, now is the time to start PV - parents volunteering. But mummy says that is not 100% confirmed a place will be reserved for you. I defintely do not fall in phrase 1 or 2A or 2B. More likely 2C - within 1km from home. I do not have any siblings nor relations with any schools here in Yishun. Even for old boys & girls sch, i cannot cos mummy comes from an all girls sch. Even if hers was a mixed sch, the location of her sch is now in Bedok - too far from me. Daddy's sch is no longer around or has changed name/location. Not sure if there is any record left.

Current list of schools mummy has on hands are Yishun Primary, Ahmad Ibrahim & Jiemin. These are all within 1km from my home. But then mummy heard alot of stories abt these schools so still pondering over. Haiz! Mummy says its nt easy. But when Rachel attends pri 1, it will be lots more easier cos she will hv a priority in the sch since her sibling - that's me, is already a student of that sch.

I have just completed term 3 in N2, starting term 4 & soon i will be graduating & promoted to K1. Mummy has already told me that in K1, alot of things i gt to do myself , such as reading instructions on my own & deciding what is to be done. I hope i can manage.

中秋节联欢晚会 - 021009

Mummy: Hb & myself went to the open field in front of blk 137 Yishun in a bid to try & look for our kids who were there for the mini mid autumn festival celebrations this evening.

After dinner, both of them went over with their ah ma & da gu. As usual, there were free balloons, free lanterns, free popcorn, free games to be given out BUT not unless you buy the coupons. And i say BUY, they are not free. :P

We found L who was with ah ma watching the stage performance. L saw his dad & ran towards him. Hb brought L over to the game stalls & L won some prizes. R was not found anywhere at all.
Mr K Shamugam was the guest of honor for the night & i actually shook hands with him for the 1st time. I was queuing for the pop corn & he was walking around thru the stalls. Haha...

Jia Xing was with her mum & she gave me all the game coupons which she said was given to her from somebody else. Funny that Jia Xing didnt want to play so i happily pass all the coupons to L & he happily played more games.

Hb told me to q for the balloon but i saw a sign indicating that a coupon was needed. No choice cos i dun hv the coupon for that. I was looking around & saw the stall owner doing a "no more" sign language & i told L that all the balloons were given out already.

And hor, this little one really know how to act. He went to stand by the pole & with a sad look on his face, managed to gain the sympathy of the balloon scupture person, was awarded a balloon, twisted into a shape of the sword. I was like: "Like that also can?" Hb replied: "See my son so smart!"

We spent about 1 hour there & L saw alot of his classmates & sch frens. Funny thing is i didnt see any of the Yishun mummies. Hello, any mummies there? Esther, Michelle, Magdalene, Lynn, April, Serena, Stephy, Susern......where is everybody?

Children Day cum Lantern Festival

Mummy: Read so many blogs about their kids down with flu, cough, fever, etc. Mine was not spared either.

L developed a slight cough, which turned into serious cough with phlegm & flu since last week. His voice became rough & his eyes drooped. His face sunk in & his lips a bright red - signs of inpending fever.

On & off, he will bouts of fever measuring ard 38-38.5 degrees. Paracetomol is always on the stand-by; our home, mil's place & at the shop.

Its been a week & L still not recovered completely. His fever is gone ( temporary - i hope it doesnt return) but his cough remains. Its quite nasty as u can hear the thick phelgm whenever he coughed.

But his energy level is not affected. He attends sch daily, yells, jumps & run about as usual. Today is 01 Oct - Children's Day. He had a celebration in school this morning- Children's Day cum Lantern Festival. Each child was to bring a food item as they were all having " pot luck". L was asked to bring springs rolls. Every child was also asked to dress their best & bring a battery operated lantern.

Oh! Speaking of spring rolls. I was casually asking my sil the other day whtr did the teacher mention abt the no. of pkts L has to bring. Sil stared at me & said:" Packet?! They all come roll by roll right? U buy 1 box la. Maybe buy strawberry one lor " My turn to say:" Roll by roll? Strawberry? Where gt 1 box one? All in packet form wat." She replied:" Spring rolls are those sweet cakes right? Those that u can buy from the bread shop right?"

Hahahahahah......i laughed out loud. Sil gt mistaken. The so call sweet cakes she was referring to were swiss rolls. I was toking abt spring rolls. ( Popiah).

Sil looked at me & for a moment, i thot she didnt realise her own confusion. Then, hahaha...she laughed at her own silly mistake.
